First hotel in Banff to offer reservations direct booking functionality through Facebook!

Spring Cleaning Facbook Page! Time to clean up our facebook page and start thinking about usability in social media. Today I wanted to make sure Douglas Fir Resort is keeping ahead of the times by updating our facebook which includes adding new tabs and new boxes to our main page.
  • We've now added  new "booking availability check" to our wall sidebar which offers you a link to make a direct booking with Douglas Fir Resort through Facebook.
  • We've added  a new "reservations tab" to our main navigation bar so now you can easily see our room types and click through to booking on our website.
  • We added a new packages tab so you can view our packages right on our facebook page and book directly from facebook to our website.

Hoping to empower you with one-click access to our websites booking engine. We have worked hard to create a user friendly social media booking process. Hope you like it!  ;0)

How do you stay Green?

At Douglas Fir Resort we try to do our part to encourage, promote and support the "greening" of our hotel. We have been eager the past few years to make changes within our hotel for the environment. We have instituted a program to save water and reduce waste. We have introduced a new line of cleaning products to help us stay green. Currently we are using Shaklee cleaning products made from the purest natural ingredients. We also use an on demand hot water system in our condo units and a high efficiency boiler system for our water slides.

Do you consider the environment when choosing a hotel? Leave a comment and let us know what you think.

Help us celebrate 25 years of slip sliding fun!

It has been a rite of passage for thousands of Albertans; scrambling up the stairs and taking the plunge from the top of the our two twisty water slides.  Today, we celebrate 25 years of slip sliding play and recognition as an industry leader in family accommodation.

Our commitment to family friendly accommodation was acknowledged by Calgarys Child magazine with the Parents Choice Award. We have been catering to families since we began welcoming visitors to Banff in 1946 and we are continually adding to our list of family friendly amenities.   In 1985, we opened up our now famous indoor water park.  The very popular Playzone was opened in 2005 offering a variety of obstacles for children to enjoy including: Three speed slides, huge climbing tree trunk and two storeys of entertainment.  In 2009 we added a games and video arcade room in the water park.  Older kids particularly enjoy the most recent additions to this space – pool table, foosball and air hockey.

Now, the rooms at Douglas Fir Resort are even more family-friendly than ever.  The latest completed upgrades include HDTV flat screen televisions, DVD players and Plug and Play panels in every living room making it easy for families to bring their favorite movies and connect their gaming consoles (wii, Xbox, Playstation) to the TV.  Keeping families entertained is easy at Banff’s finest family accommodation.

Come visit us this summer and experience the fun with your family!
