Where to hike in Banff with the family
ShareThisVisiting Banff this summer and planning to go on some easy hiking adventures with your family or friends? Let us help you with some great ideas of where to go hiking with the family.
Easy Moderate
Bow Pass ("Bow Summit") and Peyto Lake - A short uphill walk from the parking lot leads to the view of Peyto Lake. The lake is glacially fed and brilliantly turquoise. (Fantastic pictures here)
Lake Louise & Moraine Lake Area - Beautiful. A trip to Banff is not complete without visiting here.
Johnston Canyon - Very cool hike that provides great views of two waterfalls, and the ink pots at the very top (six clear greenish pools filled with spring water that remains at a constant 1-degree Celsius year-round.)
Tunnel Mountain Trail - This is a enjoyable walk that quickly and easily acquaints you with the beauty of the mountains.
Lake Minnewanka to Devil's Gap - Nice hike with great views of the lake and wilderness all around you.
Cascade Amphitheatre (Mount Norquay Road) - Great hike that rewards with fantastic views of Banff and the surrounding mountains.
Bow River / Hoodoos - Scenic walk along the river that takes you to the hoodoos (A hoodoo is a tall, isolated rock formation that is common in dry regions. Erosion usually leaves bits of resistant rock that protects the weaker rock layer beneath it.)
